Men are Arrows, Women are Wheels [I AM WOMAN series]

Men are Arrows, Women are Wheels…

I get it. You read the title and you think okay is this some knock off version of Men are Waffles and Women are Spaghetti or Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus???

Like every other informative text on the human body these books too left out a key missing piece for women to better understand themselves and their male counterparts.

While the aforementioned texts are incredibly fun, hilarious, and teach us gals why women and men don’t always communicate or think the same way, the aren’t really talking about why so many women are living fatigued, hormonally imbalance, and out of synch with their largest governing body THE MOON!!!

So here you have it…

Pre, peri, and postmenopausal women this blog is for you so you can finally uncover your reason for feeling so stressed out all the time!!!

Also listen to my FREE Energy Healing Audio for this month!

Why are so many women living sick, fatigued, burnt out, and with hormonal imbalance??

Well ladies, we are literally going against the grain!

To be honest it’s not our fault we have been secluded from our sacred feminine wisdom that keeps our female bodies well, however, it is our responsibility that we reclaim this wisdom and bring it back into our everyday lives for our bodies, our daughters, our sisters, and our mothers.

Women are wheels, and men are arrows…

What do I even mean?

We as women have a 28 day infradian rhythm and we cycle like a wheel with the moon whether we are pre, peri, or postmenopausal!

>>>in 28 days our bodies go through the hormonal pattern guys go through in 24 hours!<<<

WOMEN VS MEN

As opposed to men, fellas have a 24 hour diurnal clock that gets them through the day, with a steady organic pattern that repeats day after day, week after week, month after month. Their hormonal pattern is like picking up and shooting an arrow over and over again each day, it goes up, then comes down.

We women, in our menstruating years, start the month off slow with soft hormone levels and pick up speed with increasing hormone levels as the month progresses and ovulation occurs! (Read ALL ABOUT YOUR HORMONES blog here

What is giving our bodies energy and regulation within our hormone production??

Ladies, our hormone support is in conjunction with the moon’s energy!

WHAT?!?

Yes the rock that orbits around Earth has a strong governance over our bodies.

Even if you’re not a bleeding babe (you’re pre pubescent or post menopausal) the moon is still affecting your energy pattern, just not your hormonal pattern!

Think about it for a second..

This phenomenon has been occurring for millions of years yet the wisdom and wealth of information has been stripped out of our basic biology and sex ed classes, for a very good reason but more on that later!

When the moon is at a full moon, she is big and bright! The full moon creates energy in our bodies as this is the time when crops are ideal for harvest and we would be in the fields until late, this is our modern day time to be social and to be seen! This is the time in the month when we’re ovulating. We might notice it is hardest to sleep during this time and we want to be more social, less introspective.  Our energy and hormones for MOST women peak at the time of the full moon, which corresponds with ovulation each month.

WILD!

On the flip side, when the new moon comes, the moon is dark, the sky is almost completely black, and your energy starts to dwindle. This is when you feel the pull to retreat inward for rest/reflection. There is little moonlight outside fueling you and you’re not feeling so social during this phase. This is the time of the menstrual cycle for MOST women and the moon’s quiet, restful energy influences your vibes as well!

NOTE: if you’re not in sync with the moon in this way, NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOU!, when you bleed has everything to do with your energy field! Check out this BLOG or this PODCAST to learn more!

Let’s be scientific for a second…

When we scoff at the idea the moon could possibly influence our physical bodies, remember we are 74% water and so is the planet that the moon so beautifully governs.

Planet Earth =74% water

Human Body= 74% water
The moon cycles the ocean, the tides, and our menstrual cycles all in one month. The word month actually comes from the word moonth.

We have an energetic cycle along with the moon each month that governs our mood, energy levels, and hormones.

When we disregard our natural cycles, just like if we sleep when we should be awake, we know it does some funky things to our bodies! Look at the research for night shift workers..

There is a well-established body of research that suggests that there's a strong association between night shift work and the development of cardiovascular disorders; shift workers have on average, a 40% increased risk for ischemic heart disease compared to today's workers.

Why??

If we are living apart from our rhythm our bodies are going to be all out of sorts!

It’s time we reconnect with our cyclical wisdom and live in a rhythmic way for better human physiology.

I will teach you how exactly you can do this in part 2 of the blog…keep on reading friend!!

PART 2

Since I started cycle synching, menstrual cycle awareness, or living in flow with the moon (called different things by various thought leaders) I have noticed the following:

  • My nervous system feels more regulated

  • I no longer beat myself up for resting

  • I am twice as effective on the most aligned days for productivity than before!

  • My hormone levels are no longer peri menopausal in my early thirties.

  • I am happier, trust myself more, and have better overall moods.

Yaaay good for you Jen… you might be thinking!

Trust me when I say these glorious benefits are not just for me. Oftentimes we’re pushing ourselves during rest time and in rest mode when it's go time!

Do you ever feel like you plan your friend gatherings on the days you feel like being a hermit and your solo days the week you feel like being out and about??

Are you consistently confused about your hormones and why you feel the way you feel when you're screaming at your partner??

Oftentimes, we're just outta synch!

I am going to take you through the following:

  • The cycles of the moon

  • The cycles of the earth

  • The cycles of your body

  • & how each lives in sync with one another.

Ya ready???

Let’s go girls!!

We chatted about the moon in intense detail in this post and let me recap with you quickly so you can follow along..

The moon has four phases.

Your body has four phases physiologically and energetically.

The Earth has four phases (especially if you’re a midwest gal like me!).

We are going to pretend that you’re a cycling female and you are the majority of women in sync with the moon. Once we learn the control group, you can see where your body lands in this post here, and remember nothing is wrong with you if you don’t cycle this way!

Every 29.5 days your body and the moon go through these four phases, the Earth has four seasons every 365 days that we will reference as a simile to best understand the energetics behind these phases.

Remember your body has both a physiological cycle as well as an energetic cycle. The moon is influencing BOTH!

Every month the moon is either ramping up in energy with a big main event, the full moon, or slowing down in energy, with the second biggest event, the new moon!

Instead of operating our female bodies in one mode all day, every day, understanding the four phases we go through in a month as pre, peri & post menopausal women is pivotal.

First let’s grasp the moon…

The moon is made new every month by what we call a new moon. At this time the night sky is darkest and most cycling women are menstruating. This is the LAST phase of the moon and menstrual cycle. I reference it now as a placeholder in time and space for us.

The moon and your cycle begins after the new moon and your bleed with the new beginnings knows as the follicular phase—

Follicular phase

•waxing moon (growing bigger +gaining energy)

•inner spring (new beginnings after winter)

•a feeling of new beginnings

•estrogen, progesterone at a quiet steady level

•a great time to start something new, plan a trip, make a vision board

•your energy will be mostly optimistic and excited, you will have more energy to go for a walk or hike than normal

•your body will most enjoy light, cool, and crisp foods like smoothies and salads

The moon and your female body ramp up in energy on the way to the full moon (via positiva) + ovulatory phase—

Ovulatory phase

•full moon (bright & full)

•inner summer (pool party vibes)

•LH & FSH rise

•testosterone peaks making your libido active

•go bee seen girl! This is the time you will feel most social, most magnetic, and most confident

•your communication centers are primed for writing, speaking, and articulating your thoughts

•your body loves a challenging workout or a night out at this time!

•ovulation requires lots of antioxidants so be sure to load up on wild blueberries and other cooling fruits/veggies!

Right after the main event, the full moon begins to wane (via negativa) as the energy of your body wanes and draws inward over a steady 10-14 days—

Luteal phase

•waning moon

•inner fall (things begin to die and slow down)

•the fullness and brightness of the moon slowly wanes and you feel your energy do the same

•last week you felt social and magnetic, this week you may want to tidy up your house and focus on detail oriented work

•you feel less social, and have a keen sense for refinement

•use this phase to see what isn’t in alignment in your life

•organize your pantry, edit your blog, tidy up your office, get lost in a book

•your metabolism increases in the second half of your cycle so focus on filling and nourishing foods like warm root vegetables

This cycle culminates with the new moon and menstrual cycle. All endings returning to the beginning—

Menstrual phase

•new moon

•inner winter

•this is the time to give yourself the rest you need for all other phases of the cycle

•if you skip rest here, you won’t fully experience the benefits of the upward energy in the next phase

•take a bath, journal, rest

•your body loves warm nourishing foods and foods rich in magnesium to fuel your cycle (think chocolate and bean soup)

•this is not the time to diet or calorie restriction- you need the most calories here with plenty of iron (leafy greens) and magnesium (chocolate or avocado)!

When we live aligned with the energy harnessed by the moon we find rhythm, ritual, rest.

Understanding the energy of each cycle is life changing if you tend to beat yourself up for not being productive enough, rested enough, social enough, tidy enough, horny enough, and reflective enough all at the same time.

There’s a cycle for everything under the moon including:

The days you push it in the gym (full moon), rest like a hibernated bear (new moon), clean the house when it actually feels good (waning moon), and want to redecorate the entryway (waxing moon).

Imagine a world where you fully rest, fully work, and fully play.

This is your new world!

No more burnout.

No more fatigue.

No more negative self-talk.

Your entire physical & energetic being is governed by the moon. There’s no fighting it.

You now have nature’s permission to surrender into living in flow and begin to watch the miracle unfold.
